Setting this project into motion is Ms. Jhulie Rose E. Villarin, LPT of the AdZU who partnered with the 15th Special Forces Company to help push forward one of their advocacies dubbed “Pahina” - a facility rehabilitation effort that seeks to transform a remote school’s room into a library. This project aims to enrich the learning experiences of students from far-flung corners of the region who are in most need of books and other educational needs.
The library was officially turned over on November 10, 2024, with the support of the 15th Special Forces Company and the Charlie Company. During the ceremony, 1st Lt. Jose Miguel A. Abellanosa, Commanding Officer of the Charlie Company, emphasized the significance of education in shaping future leaders. He applauded the 15th Special Forces Company’s advocacy and encouraged the continuation and expansion of similar efforts in Maluso.
1st Lt. John Clifford C. Dulin, Executive Officer of the 15th Special Forces Company, reiterated their commitment to supporting the municipality’s educational needs, even beyond their immediate operational area. He highlighted the symbol of pride that each soldier bears on their uniform, signifying a shared dedication to serving and uplifting communities in need.
Ms. Villarin expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the soldiers for their active involvement in supporting educational opportunities in Basilan. She noted that the Fr. Jose T. Bacatan, SJ Library’s contribution exemplifies AdZU’s mission of social involvement and dedication to serving communities facing educational challenges.
This collaborative project underscores a shared commitment to fostering education and promoting knowledge in underserved areas, advancing the values of AdZU and the 15th Special Forces Company. As books fill shelves in Tubigan Day Care Center, they carry with them the promise of a brighter future for Basilan’s youth - an enduring message that every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and dream (PR).
