A FORMER peace consultant of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines was arrested in a manhunt in Olongapo City over the weekend.
"Ka Dindo" or "Tibo," included in the National Most Wanted Persons list with a PHP7.8 million reward, was arrested around 5 p.m. Saturday in Barangay Gordon Heights, Olongapo City following a month of surveillance, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) reported Sunday.
"Ka Dindo" faces multiple cases like robbery with double homicide, damage to property and 15 counts of murder.
He is also linked to the 2004 Bayugan Police Station attack in Agusan del Sur, which resulted in the death of two police officers and the theft of several firearms.
CIDG chief Brig. Gen. NIcolas Torre III said the arrest “not only disrupts the communist group’s operational network but also sends a strong message of the government’s resolve to maintain peace and order.”
The Philippine National Police said the arrest of "Ka Dindo" was a significant victory in dismantling terrorist networks and ensuring national security. (Christopher Lloyd Caliwan)
