ZAMBOANGA CITY – An airport employee was shot dead in a brazen attack late Saturday in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines while President Rodrigo Duterte was visiting troops here.
The victim had been identified as Jeric Flores, an employee of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines. The attack occurred at the residential BAT Compound in Governor Camins Avenue near the Zamboanga City Airport.
Flores just arrived home when he was attacked. Forensic investigators recovered at least 5 cartridges fired from a .45-caliber pistol. Police are investigating the motive of the murder and who was behind it.
Gun attacks are not uncommon in Zamboanga City where hired killers are actively operating.
Duterte was at the Philippine Air Force base at the airport where he inspected soldiers and spoke to soldiers. (Mindanao Examiner)
