3 Chinese travellers arrested in Basilan province

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Philippine authorities are holding 3 Chinese men who illegally sneaked into the southern province of Basilan where they have been spotted buying fuel for their speed boat, police said Friday.

Police said the trio - Chun Wai Ho, 32; Tsz Kin Tsui 40; and Wang Po, 33 - were being interrogated after they failed to present any visa of travel papers. Civilians in the town of Hadji Muhtamad reported the presence of the Chinese travellers to the police.

The foreigners claimed to be all from Hong Kong and that they had travelled to Thailand and Indonesia and then sailed to the southern Philippines and landed May 9 in Basilan, one of 5 provinces under the Muslim autonomous region, to refuel on their way back to the Chinese territory.

It was unknown whether police have informed the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Bureau of Immigration on the arrest of the trio. (Mindanao Examiner)
