ZAMBOANGA CITY – Two motorcycle gunmen shot and seriously wounded a woman in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines where two other women had been killed in separate attacks.
Police said the 38-year old Asria Sabandal was closing her store in Talisayan village late Tuesday when the gunmen arrived and shot her several times in the body.
The assailants escaped after the shooting, leaving the bloodied woman sprawled on the floor. Her relatives rushed her to the hospital, according to Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, a regional police spokeswoman.
“She sustained multiple gunshot wound in her body and was immediately brought to hospital for medical attention,” Galvez said.
She said police investigators recovered 5 bullet casings fired from a .45-caliber pistol. The motive of the attack is still unknown, but police are investigating the shooting.
Just recently, a woman was also shot dead here and another was found lifeless and had a hacked wound in the body. Gun attacks are not uncommon in Zamboanga where hired killers are actively operating.
Last week, a teenager was also shot and killed by a lone motorcycle gunman who remains at-large. (Mindanao Examiner)
