SULU – Dozens of aspiring teachers have officially taken their oath here after passing the rigorous licensure examination conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission or PRC in Western Mindanao.
Regional PRC Director Sharo Lo led the oath taking July 4 held at the Sumadja Hall at the Provincial Capitol in Patikul town.
Those who passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers praised and thanked Sulu Governor Toto Tan for his assistance.
Sayjin Ukkoh, PRC Sulu Coordinator, said Tan will always be supportive of his constituents, especially for the benefits not only of the province and its people, but the region and country as well as partner of the government in nation building.
“Let us not fail to mention the obvious. Our beloved Governor Toto Tan will always be supportive of your quest and will do everything humanly possible to make matters easy for you. Great and prestigious institution like the PRC will be at your doorstep, within reach for your needs, thanks to our Governor. This event is a living testament to that,” he said.
“Our place deserves to be progressive and developed. Let it start from the quality of education in that pursuit you can give your students. Charter them into good and law-abiding citizens,” he added.
Ukkoh also thanked the hard-working governor for his undying advocacy on education and literacy for the locals.
“Be consistently sensitive, mindful and responsive to your students. Be the source of understanding and hope for the most difficult and suffering students in the class. Be a good character models your students would want to look up to. Be the source of life, breather of hope and dispenser of love,” he said.
The PRC and the Board for Professional Teachers said that 13,774 elementary teachers out of 58,323 examinees (23.62%) and 22,936 secondary teachers out of 76,673 examinees (29.91%) passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers given on March 25 in 20 testing centers all over the country.
It said that of the 13,774 elementary teacher passers, some 4,360 were first timers and 9,414 were repeaters. For the secondary teachers, 15,035 passers were first timers and 7,901 were repeaters.
The Board for Professional Teachers is composed of Dr. Rosita L. Navarro, Chairperson Dr. Paz I. Lucido, Vice Chairman; and members Dr. Paraluman R. Giron and Dr. Nora M. Uy. (Ahl-franzie Salinas)
