ZAMBOANGA CITY – Regional police chief,
Brigadier General Froilan Quidilla, has urged the public to cooperate with
authorities and report illegal activities and criminalities in an effort to
effectively maintain peace and order in Zamboanga Peninsula this yuletide
season.
“We urge the community to cooperate with the
PNP and other law enforcers for a peaceful and safe Christmas and New Year
celebration. Please report all illegal activities and criminalities in their
area through I-Sumbong Mo, I-ACTION Ko Hotline numbers 0977-3102365 and
0961-2977064,” Quidilla said.
He said the police forces have implemented
intensified patrol in the region throughout the Christmas holidays. “Through
the Enhanced Managing Police Operations, PRO9 is ready to respond in any
eventualities and incidents during the season. Close monitoring of illegal
firecrackers is strictly implemented to eliminate the casualties and victims of
firecracker incidents.”
The Enhanced Managing Police Operations is a strategy that encompasses other operational
campaigns on law enforcement and public safety, primarily internal security, especially
the operations against lawlessness and insurgency.
“The campaign on illegal drugs and other
anti-criminalities will continue to be implemented to ensure safety in the
community and the One Strike Policy applies to all officers and commanders, and
police chiefs who fail to resolve within 24 hours any indiscriminate firing
incident that will result to death or injury,” Quidilla said.
Lieutenant General Camilo Cascolan, the PNP
Deputy Chief for Operations, also said the 195,000-strong police force will
continue its operations against anti-criminality,
anti-illegal drugs, internal security operations, and anti-terrorism despite the yuletide season.
He said the order came from PNP chief Lieutenant General Archie Francisco Gamboa.
“The entire 195,000-strong is now on nationwide full alert for the
entire holiday season until January 5. This alert condition ensures the
readiness of PNP units to respond to contingencies and police emergencies that
are perennially associated with the traditional observance of the Yuletide season
including the traditional exodus of people from the urban centers to the
provinces, religious practices, festive atmosphere, and high-economic activity,”
Cascolan said. (Zamboanga Post)
