Pasig staff under quarantine after exposure to Covid-19 patient

PASIG CITY  Mayor Vico Sotto on Saturday apologized over some delays on the issuance of travel certificates and other public transactions with the local government as some government personnel were reportedly exposed to a patient infected with the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

In a Facebook post, Sotto said some personnel of the City Health Office (CHO) and the City Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (CESU) were placed under quarantine.
"Humihingi po ako ng pasensiya sa inyo kung nagka-delay nitong nakaraang mga araw sa travel certificate o kung tumawag kayo sa office number nila at hindi nasagot kaagad ang telepono (I apologized for the delays on the issuance of travel certificate or if your calls were not answered immediately)," Sotto said.
Sotto said the staff would still continue to do their duties through a "work-from-quarantine" set up using their mobile phones and other electronic gadgets.
"Gumawa na rin po sila ng temporary work arrangements. Tuloy pa rin silang magtatrabaho (They also have created temporary work arrangements. They will still continue to work)," he said.
The CHO and CESU employees were already tested using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test kits to determine if they had contracted the disease, Sotto said.
The swab test results are also expected to be released by Monday (June 29).
The staff will be isolated away from public places to prevent the spread of the disease within the community, he added.
Meanwhile, Sotto said in a separate post that the local government is closely coordinating with water concessionaires to ensure that residents will not experience water shortage during the community quarantine period.
"Tumutulong din ang Manila Water sa mga programa natin ngayong panahon ng quarantine (Manila Water is also helping our programs during the quarantine period)," he said.
Sotto reminded anew residents to stay home and adhere to the local government's preventive measures against Covid-19. (By Lade Jean Kabagani)
