OZAMIZ CITY – Nearly 300 couples took part in the mass wedding here which coincided with the city’s 73rd Charter anniversary celebration.

Each couple also received a wedding
cake, giveaways, P1,000 gift check, P10,000 cash from the local government and
another P5,000 cash from Rep. Henry Oaminal.
“Kamo magkahiusa ug kung unsa man gani ang mga challenges, mga kalisod, mga
problema nga muabot sa inyong kinabuhi dili man gyud na mawala naay panag-away,
paglalis ug aduna'y sitwasyon nga lain-lain ang inyong opinion, hunahuna pero
hinumdumi ninyo nga karong adlawa inyong i-commit ang inyong kaugalingon sa
inyong partner and whatever happens always remember that you can always do more
together than separately,” the mayor said.
While the lawmaker said the exchange of vows legitimized the union of couples –
many of them have been living together for years and have children. “Make your
relationship not useless, make your love endless and not useless, ang inyong
panaghigugmaay labi na karon nga krisis, nga kamo legal na kinahanglan nga
wala’y katapusan ika nga,” he said, adding, the official marriage of the
parents would greatly benefit their children.
Couple Felipe and Kim Peja thanked the City Government for providing all of
them free wedding and assistance for their family. Oaminal has legitimized the
union of more than 600 couples since the start of his administration.
The Kasalan ng Bayan is an annual activity of the local government offered to
the less privileged unwed couples who are local residents. (SMRN)
