A TOTAL of 820 persons, including 49 most wanted, were arrested in police operations nationwide from June 24-30, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported Monday.
PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Director Maj. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro said the fifth round of its simultaneous anti-criminality law enforcement operations across the country resulted "big" in terms of seizures and arrests.
Ferro said operatives seized a total of 114 firearms, 32 explosives, and PHP1.3 billion worth of evidence during police operations.
Notable among the arrests were two of Calabarzon’s most wanted persons -- Wilson Reyes and Alicia Francisco. Reyes is facing charges for trafficking and child exploitation while Francisco for heinous crimes.
Ferro said Carmilo Tabada, leader and member of the Tabada Gunrunning Group, and Nathaniel Vallente, a pastor of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines based in Mabini, Bohol, were also arrested on June 25.
Confiscated from their possession were different high-powered firearms and pieces of printed subversive documents.
Also arrested were Emelio Arco and Bryan Arco for violations against illegal destruction of natural resources.
Meantime, a total of PHP1.3 billion worth of smuggled and counterfeit cigarettes and raw materials were also seized while five suspects were arrested last June 24.
Seven personnel of an unauthorized Covid-19 drive-through clinical laboratory were also arrested in Barangay Ugong, Pasig City. (Christopher Lloyd Caliwan)
