ZAMBOANGA CITY – Authorities arrested six suspects and confiscated PHP10.2 million worth of illegal drugs in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City and Zamboanga del Sur province on Thursday.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Zamboanga Peninsula (PDEA-9) reported that the largest seizure, PHP6.8 million worth of shabu, occurred in Zamboanga City.
PDEA-9 Director Maharani Gadaoni-Tosoc said four high-value targets (HVTs) - Eldrian Alvarez, 20; Jason Orquijo, 39; Alrakib Dasid, 36; and Ellan Testado, 42 - were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Roque. Seized from them were a kilo of suspected shabu, boodle money, a mobile phone, and two motorcycles.
In Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, PDEA agents arrested Jessie Pada, 38, a school supply distributor, and Sanny Boy Fontamilla, 29, a laborer, during a drug sting operation.
The suspects, both from Maramag, Bukidnon, were apprehended at a shopping mall parking lot in Barangay San Pedro. Confiscated from them were 500 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP3.4 million, marked money, and a sports utility vehicle.
All suspects will face charges under Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Tosoc commended police operatives in Zamboanga City and Zamboanga del Sur for their support in the operations. (Teofilo Garcia, Jr.)
