THE POLICE Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) confiscated PHP64.2 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 266 individuals in anti-drug operations from March 2 to 8.
In a report released on Tuesday, PRO-7 Director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said the police confiscated a total of 9,449.19 grams of shabu and 16 grams of dried marijuana.
He said the PRO-7 conducted a total of 78 operations, including against illegal gambling, illegal firearms, and wanted persons.
Maranan said 128 people were arrested for illegal gambling during the weeklong operation.
Amid the election gun ban, the Central Visayas police seized 202 firearms and arrested 31 individuals.
The PRO-7’s dedicated tracker teams apprehended 46 individuals identified as high-priority wanted persons and 172 others on its wanted lists.
Maranan attributed their successful operations to hard work and dedication of the law enforcers, collaboration with partner agencies, and strong support of the community in the region.
"We have a clear strategy focused on preventing crime and engaging with the community. Our aim is to respond quickly and effectively to ensure that the Central Visayas community remains safe and secure," Maranan said. (Christopher Lloyd Caliwan)
