PRESIDENT FERDINAND R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday vowed to intensify efforts to improve irrigation systems and expand agricultural support programs across the country.
Marcos, in his speech at the inauguration of the Sorosoro Ibaba Development Cooperative (SIDC) Grains Terminal and Trading Project in Batangas City, reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing irrigation infrastructure, which he said is crucial to increasing agricultural productivity.
“Paiigtingin din po natin ang mga proyektong magpapabuti sa irigasyon at patubig na gagamitin sa mga pump stations para sa mas matipid at epektibong daloy ng tubig sa mga bukirin (We will intensify projects that will improve irrigation and water supply to be used at pump stations for more efficient and effective water flow to the fields),” he said.
The President also said the government is allocating funds for the establishment of key agricultural facilities like warehouses and rice and corn mills.
He assured the public that the government would do everything in its power to ensure the success of these initiatives, adding that his government plans to introduce more modern technologies to further boost production and address challenges in the agricultural sector.
The Chief Executive also emphasized the need to provide farmers with the necessary support to facilitate the efficient delivery of their produce to the market.
“Titiyakin natin na abot-kamay ang lahat ng suporta upang mapabilis at mapadali ang pagdadala ng kanilang ani sa merkado (We will ensure that all support is given to out farmers to speed up and facilitate the transportation of their produce to the market),” he said. (Darryl John Esguerra)
