MAGUINDANAO – Unidentified gunmen ambushed a man and his wife who were travelling on a motorcycle in Datu Odin Sinsuat town in the restive Muslim province of Maguindanao, police said Saturday.
Police said both victims - Mantil Sangkad, 39, and wife Noria, 37 – died instantly from the attack. The ambushers opened fire with automatic rifle as the couple was heading to the village of Taviran.
The attack occurred on Thursday, police said, adding, an investigation was also launched to determine the motive of the killings and who were behind it.
No individual has claimed responsibility for the ambush, but police were eyeing rido or clan war as possible motive for the attack. (Rose Muneza)
