ZAMBOANGA MAYOR Beng Climaco has called on everybody to pray for the safety of those affected by the eruption of Taal Volcano in Batangas province.
She appealed to residents to include in their prayers the hapless victims of the calamity that has affected tens of thousands of people in the province and nearby areas due to volcanic quakes and ash falls since last week.
The area around the volcano remains under Alert Level 4 which means that a hazardous eruption can occur at any time.
Climaco said the City Government will donate P5 million as financial assistance to families and local governments affected by the volcano eruption in Batangas.
She also ordered Elmeir Apolinario, head of the Zamboanga City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, to form part of a team to be deployed in Batangas to assess the situation in areas affected by the ash falls.
“My instruction to Dr. Apolinario is to also share whatever we can to help the affected families through the local government units in Batangas and surrounding areas,” she said. (Zamboanga Post)
