NCot gov’t hastens recovery program for quake-affected Makilala town

THE PROVINCIAL Government here is fast tracking recovery program in earthquake-affected towns in the province, particularly in Makilala town which was hardly hit by the calamity.
Governor Nancy Catamco emphasized that the provincial government wants to get things done the soonest possible time to bring back normalcy in the daily lives of affected residents.

"We need to fast track all documents required from us by national agencies and start the recovery program for evacuees,” Catamco stated reminding Makilala LGU to come up with correct data to ensure enough and proper assistance from the national government.
She also noted that despite the donations received by the Provincial Government and Makilala LGU, government aid is still needed for the total recovery of affected communities.
According to her, the Office of Civil Defense and other line agencies are already preparing to help in the recovery program.
Meanwhile, Makilala Mayor Armando Quibod disclosed that the LGU has an accumulated amount of P46 million from donations. Part of the amount, he said, will be allotted for purchase of land areas for relocation sites.
It can be noted that in Makilala, over 20,000 families with damaged houses were affected of the series of quakes last year.
On the other hand, just yesterday, the provincial governments of Davao de Oro and Davao del Norte, each gave P500,000 to earthquake victims of the town.
