IN LINE with efforts to improve interoperability between the two services, Philippine Navy (PN) flag-officer-in-command Rear Admiral Giovanni Carlo Bacordo paid a courtesy call to Philippine Army (PA) commander Lt. Gen. Gilbert Gapay Tuesday.
Army spokesperson Col. Ramon Zagala said the visit took place at the PA headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
He added Bacordo's visit aims to further strengthen PA and PN’s coordination in terms of interoperability operations.
They discussed matters pertaining to the Navy’s transport of Army capabilities and forces in order to deliver timely support to various PA units located in the country’s different islands.
Together with other senior Army and Navy officers, they also talked about possible joint exercises that will equip the forces in addressing future threats.
Zagala said one of the suggestions made was a “ship to shore training”, wherein instead of simply transporting the troops, they will undergo training while onboard and upon landing, they will perform exercises like island retaking. (By Priam Nepomuceno)
