Sara visits Sulu, stays for 2 days

DAVAO CITY – Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Carpio recently visited the southern province of Sulu and met with political allies led by Governor Sakur Tan.

Tan, along with municipal mayors, welcomed Carpio who arrived on board the BRP Ang Pangulo and stayed in the province for two days. A huge crowd of well-wishers were also there and chanted Carpio’s name.

During her stay, Carpio had breakfast meeting with Tan and other officials, but details of the talk were not made public by local officials.

Military and police officials were also at the presidential yacht.

Wearing a red t-shirt with print “Tapang at Malasakit” and Duterte’s clenched-fist trademark, Carpio also joined Tan - also the Special Envoy of the Royal Council of the Sulu Sultanate - and other municipal and provincial officials in the inauguration of a two-storey school building in Laud Lambayong Elementary School.

Carpio was also presented with a colorful and intricately designed hand-woven cloth with print “Kusug Tausug” which literally means “Strong People” and a native hat which she put on at the delight of the locals. Jolo Mayor Kerkar Tan and Vice Governor Toto Tan were also with Carpio throughout her stay.

In 2018, Carpio, accompanied by Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo, also visited Sulu and inspected victims of fire in Jolo town before meeting with local government leaders here led by Tan. Also in her entourage were Davao del Norte Governor Anthony del Rosario and Davao Occidental Governor Claude Bautista.

Carpio is behind the regional political party called Hugpong ng Pagbabago which Sulu officials are also supporting.  (Mindanao Examiner)
