THE PHILIPPINE Marine Corps thanked the Climaco administration for its “invaluable support” and awarded the local government with a plaque of appreciation.
The plaque of appreciation was signed by Brig. Gen. Raul Caldez, of the Headquarters Combat and Service Support Brigade.
The local government funded the multi-purpose pavement in Bagong Calarian which will benefit the Motor Transport and Maintenance Battalion, Combat and Service Support Brigade, the Philippine Navy and Philippine Marine Corps.
Caldez said the plaque was for in “grateful appreciation and invaluable support” of the Climaco administration to the security sector which is one of the priority programs of the mayor.
Climaco also thanked the Philippine Marine Corps for recognizing the efforts of the local government. “Thank you very much Combat and Service Support Brigade, Philippine Marine Corps for recognizing the City Government's efforts in helping and supporting the military sector in its endeavors,” she said.
The mayor said the local government is firm in its commitment to the security sector for the safety and protection of the people.
Last year, the Philippine Marine Corps - during its 69th anniversary - also recognized Climaco and the continued support of the local government which contributed to its numerous accomplishments.
General Alvin Parreño, commandant of the Philippine Marine Corps, presented the mayor with a plaque and cited Climaco’s “invaluable support rendered to the security forces particularly to the Marine Battalion Landing Team 11 by assisting the unit in performing the mission ranging from intensive security operations to civil engagements particularly in the East Central Areas of Zamboanga and by providing additional assets that greatly boosted the unit’s capability which significantly contributed to the successful accomplishments of the mission of the Corps.”
“Thank you for your love and support to the Marines. God bless you more!” Parreño said.
The Philippine Marine Corps and the local police force were among the recipients of brand new vehicles donated by the local government in August 2019 as part of its support to the security sector. Apart from the donation of vehicles, the local government also shells out about P22 million for the police force for its fuel, vehicle maintenance, among other necessities.
Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir, the city police chief, received the prowl cars from Climaco during a simple ceremony attended by policemen who praised the mayor for her “relentless support” to the Zamboanga City Police Office.
Climaco also donated pickup trucks to Parreño and Task Force Zamboanga Chief, Army Colonel Leonel Nicolas and Marine Battalion Landing Team 11 Commandant, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Ariel de los Reyes.
“The City Government will never get tired of supporting and assisting the police and the entire security sector in Zamboanga and all these for the dedication of the soldiers and policemen in securing our city and our people.” (Zamboanga Post)
