NCRPO lauds LGUs support in fight vs. Covid-19

THE NATIONAL  Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Monday recognized the indispensable support of local government units in the fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.  

In a statement, NCRPO chief, Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas, lauded LGUs for their assistance in terms of providing facilities for quarantine violators and patient care centers.

For instance, he said Malabon City Mayor Antolin Oreta lll converted Catmon Tennis Court located in Barangay Catmon into a detention facility to house violators of the enhanced community quarantine.

"We are very much thankful for the support of our stakeholders and LGUs in our fight against the unseen. Now, more than ever, their support is indispensable for us to overcome the hurdles brought out by this pandemic,” Sinas said in a statement.
The increasing number of ECQ violators continue to crowd detention cells all over the metropolis.

Among the commonly violated ECQ protocols include failure to wear face masks; social distancing (especially in crowded places like markets); violation of the curfew hours except those Authorized Persons to be Outside of Residence; and failure to bring quarantine pass while outside of residence, among others.

With the active support of different LGUs, local city task forces, barangay officials, volunteers, and other concerned agencies, he said the NCRPO will continuously go against ECQ violators to prevent the further spread of the Covid-19 in the region.

"With the invigorated implementation of ECQ in the Metro and the presently ongoing e-inquest proceedings against violators, we guarantee stringent enforcement of ECQ related laws and ordinances. Hence, we plead cooperation among our citizens to please obey the law and stay home,” he added.

Sinas also thanked San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora and private sponsors for their unwavering support to the construction of two patient care facilities at the San Juan National High School Basketball Court.

"These facilities will be manned by Quick Response Team or the San Juan-PNP personnel who are also licensed nurses with adequate training on how to monitor patients. They will attend to the needs of our front-liners from San Juan PNP who will be diagnosed as suspect and probable Covid-19 cases under the new classification of the DOH. The two facilities with a 15-bed capacity each are fully-air conditioned with comfort rooms and bathrooms which are of big help to our current plight. We are glad that front-liners with a higher risk of exposure to the virus are given appropriate assistance and appreciation," he added. (  By Christopher Lloyd Caliwan)
