14 Pangasinan LGUs with confirmed rabies cases get vaccines

FOURTEEN LOCAL  government units (LGUs) in Pangasinan have received boxes of rabies vaccines as part of the anti-rabies campaign of the provincial government.  
 
The Provincial Information Office said the vaccines were obtained from the Department of Agriculture and turned over to the LGUs on Monday.
 
“The fourteen local government units (LGUs) which received the vaccines include Infanta, Alaminos City, Sual, Mangatarem, Basista, Urbiztondo, Lingayen, Sta. Barbara, San Carlos City, Mangaldan, Manaoag, Urdaneta City, Villasis and San Manuel,” the PIO said in a statement Monday. 
 
These LGUs got 100 boxes of vaccines each that can vaccinate up to 10 dogs, it said.  
 
Provincial veterinarian officer-in-charge Jovito Tabajeros said the LGU beneficiaries are those that recorded rabies cases this year.
 
The Provincial Veterinary Office has so far recorded 53 rabies positive cases in the province this year.
 
Meanwhile, based on the data of the Provincial Health Office, the province recorded five deaths due to rabies from January 1 to June 29 this year.
 
The casualties were from Mangaldan, Rosales, Binmaley, Alcala towns and Alaminos City. (By Hilda Austria)
