THE CITY of Manila, through Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso, received Monday 20 new mobile patrol cars to help boost and increase police visibility in the city.
“This will boost our effort particularly in the Manila Police District (MPD) with regards to the peace and order situation,” he said during a flag-raising ceremony Monday morning at the Kartilya ng Katipunan.
Domogaso thanked the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) for the donation as he announced that aside from the patrol cars, another six tactical vehicles are set to arrive, which will be used by the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team.
"Mas madali tayong makaka-responde at ma cho-choke natin kung sakaling yung insidente sa Maynila, hindi sila basta-basta makakalabas at the same time yung mga presinto will be empowered (response time against criminal activities will be improved and police precincts will be empowered)," he said.
Domagoso said each of the 11 police precincts in the city will receive one patrol car.
He said he is happy with the performance of the MPD which in the last three months apprehended 21 top criminals.
“Ang mga kaso (cases are) rape, murder, and other heinous crimes. They swamp around the city of Manila living like a normal person but our children will be put into harm in the existence of these people around us in our community. Thanks to MPD, 21 sa tatlong buwan nasakote natin ang mga mabibigat na criminal sa lungsod ng Maynila (in three months, these criminals were apprehended in Manila),” he said.
Meanwhile, Domagoso said the war on drugs in the city is a continuing effort, as he urged drug dealers in Manila to just surrender themselves to law enforcers. (By Marita Moaje)
