Mountain Province cops recover 17 abandoned marijuana bricks

AUTHORITIES ON  Sunday afternoon recovered 17 abandoned marijuana bricks in Samuki, Bontoc, Mountain Province estimated to be worth PHP2.04 million.

In a report to the Police Regional Office-Cordillera (PROCOR), police operatives from Bontoc said that acting upon a tip, they were able to recover said abandoned marijuana bricks placed inside a box.

Police were unable to make any arrest but the items have been brought to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) office in Bontoc for proper disposition.

Despite the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, Cordillera cops remain alert in their continued fight against illegal drugs.

Last Sept. 11, PDEA agents nabbed a Land Transportation Office-Cordillera traffic enforcer in a buy-bust operation at Suello Village, Barangay Santo Tomas Proper in Baguio City.

The suspect, who is listed as a high-value individual, yielded two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected as shabu.

Last month, law enforcers concluded a three-day operation from Aug. 17 to 19 in Mount Chumanchil in Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga where they uprooted and burned some 404,300 fully grown marijuana plants worth PHP80 million in nine plantations. (By Liza Agoot)
