Pagadian turns to Google Maps to promote businesses, tourism sites

PAGADIAN CITY – The local government of Pagadian City urged business owners to put their establishments on Google Maps to allow consumers easy access to their locations and make use of technology for their own advantage.

Even the local tourism office and the City Council Tourism Committee chairperson, Councilor Sam Tyra Co are helping business sectors - upon the order of Mayor Sammy Co - on pinning businesses to the world’s most widely used search engine and virtual map site.

Local tourism spots are also now on Google Maps.

Asenso Pagadian, the local government’s official public information site on Facebook, said: “Google Maps will be our best friend when it comes to local SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Millions of visitors use it to search for directions to local businesses, attractions, and personal addresses.”

“The app is also important because people use it on their mobile devices. The mobile app, especially if the location feature is active, is a powerful marketing tool for businesses. If implemented correctly, Google Maps marketing can become one of the quickest ways to bolster an establishment’s presence in local search results.”

It said dozens of establishments in Pagadian have been pinned to the Google Maps.

Google Maps is a web mapping service developed by Google. It offers satellite imagery, aerial photography, street maps, 360° interactive panoramic views of streets, real-time traffic conditions, and route planning for traveling by foot, car, bicycle and air, or public transportation.
