Davao City gets strict on non-essential travels

THE CITY  government has tightened the policy on non-essential travels like leisure and gaming by reinforcing the use of the food and medicine pass.

Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio bared that it is the reason why she issued Executive Order No. 62 last Friday to differentiate the malpractice from access of essential goods and services plus clauses on wellness, exercise and religion.

She said people can still go out on a Sunday.

Duterte-Carpio also issued Executive Order No. 63 which redefines a new the authorized persons outside residence and non-authorized person outside the residence.  She said the EO is designed to protect non-Davao City residents from the local transmission that is happening within Davao City.

“There is an assumption that one goes out for work and access to essential goods and services,” Duterte-Carpio said.

The mayor has asked the Department of Health, the Philippine Information Agency, the Phil. News Agency and other media entities to explain to the people the truth about the pandemic.

She said the barangay captains expressed difficulty in explaining the presence of the pandemic for lack of competence.

Duterte-Carpio bared that the Safe Davao QR is already open and it is up for the City Information Office to announce when the individuals can register for contact tracing purposes.

She also said that swab test is free to everyone as far as the City Government is concerned based on the City Health Office protocol.

“If the swab test is based on the person’s caprices or gut-feel, it is no longer based on the City Health protocol and the person has to pay for the swab test,” Duterte-Carpio said.

Duterte-Carpio said the state of the city address will highlight the COVID-19 response of the city and the highlights of the Byaheng Du30 using the governance direction under her administration with 10 concerns and 30 projects under her leadership.

She called on people to work hard to address the COVID-19 or those working to save families from bankruptcy.

“We work together to ensure that there is a balance.  The government is in the middle of those people working for COVID-19 pandemic, meaning the health workers and all front liners and those working for their families,” Duterte-Carpio said. (By Joey Dalumpines)
