Davao City reimplements FM pass

DABAWENYOS WERE greeted with massive traffic jams as authorities put up checkpoints across the city to check on the Food and Medicine passes of commuters and motorists.

Today (Nov. 17) is the first day of the implementation of the Food and Medicine pass or FM pass aimed at controlling the non-essential travel of Dabawenyos which is among the reasons that contributed to the surge of COVID cases in the city.

Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio signed Executive Order 62 series of 2020, which places back the use of the FM pass implemented first during the Enhanced Community Quarantine in April of this year.

The FM pass has a coding scheme which allows certain users to go out and buy essential food and medicine on certain days of the week.

“FM pass with last digit 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 can only be used on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. FM pass with last digit 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 can only be used on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. FM pass can only be used from the hours of 5:00AM to 7:00PM,” Reads the provision of the EO.

The order also states that individuals who are travelling for essential goods and services have the burden to prove essential travel by the presentation of the following:

For Work, any of the following: a. Employee ID b. Certificate of Employment c. Certification of Labor/Service (for those without employer-employee relationship)

For Drivers picking up individuals to and from work: a. Photocopy of the ID of Employer or Employee, and b. Driver’s License of the Driver

For Family Events: a. Event Invitation

For Walking, Jogging, Cycling: a. ID with address b. Two hours maximum exercise shall be computed to be within 10 kilometers radius of the residential address

For Other Fitness Clubs: a. Certification of Membership b. Gym ID c. Appointment Confirmation. (By Rudolph Ian Alama)
