THE NUMBER of persons who have recovered from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in Negros Oriental is pegged at around 83 percent of the total case count as of Dec. 8.
Assistant Provincial Health Officer Dr. Liland Estacion, the chair of the health committee of the provincial Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), in a virtual presser Tuesday afternoon reported 12 new recoveries.
This brings the total recoveries to 596 versus the overall number of positive Covid-19 cases of 714 since the start of the pandemic, she said.
All 12 new recoveries are from the city.
Estacion also said 14 new active cases were reported in Negros Oriental, and are from Dumaguete (nine); Sibulan (three); Dauin, and Tayasan (one each).
One death was also reported, an 81-year-old-female from Valencia town who had comorbidities, she said.
Dumaguete still has the highest number of active cases at 41, followed by Sibulan with 11, and Bais City with 10, while others have between one and eight cases, records at the Provincial Health Office-Provincial Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (PHO-PESU) showed.
The total number of Covid-19 cases in Negros Oriental is now pegged at 714, with 98 active cases, 596 recoveries, and 20 deaths.(By Mary Judaline Partlow)
