Stay home, celebrate Yuletide with loved ones: Davao mayor

DAVAO CITY – Mayor Sara Carpio reminded residents to celebrate the Yuletide holidays safely and healthily with their family and reiterated calls to stay home and avoid social parties and gatherings.

Carpio said the celebration would be more meaningful if everyone in the family is complete and healthy this Christmas and New Year. “Mao kini ang pinakamaayong regalo nga atong mahatag sa atong pamilya ug sa tanang tao sa atong katilingban,” she said.

“Likayan nato ang mga party ug panagtapok-tapok. Atong balibaran ang mga imbitasyon,” she added.

Carpio encouraged everyone to reflect on the current situation and to look forward to the future. “Magtigum kita ug mogasto alang lamang sa mga butang nga importante kanato ug sa atong pamilya. Ayaw usiki ang inyong kwarta sa mga butang nga walay bili – sama na lang sa mga pabuto,” she said.

The mayor also asked residents to pray and cooperate as the local government continues to fight the spread of Covid-19. Davao City has one of the highest numbers of Covid-19 cases in the country and remains under General Community Quarantine until end of the year.

“Magtinabangay kita sa pagbatok sa pagkuyanap sa virus. Ug sa atong pagtinabangay – mapakita nato ang atong kusog. Pinaagi niini, dili kita mapukan,” she said. (Malou Cablinda contributed to this report.)
