10 Davao City Hall employees test positive for Covid-19

MAYOR SARA  Z. Duterte has confirmed that at least 10 of the 327 city government employees working at the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) Building recently tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“Yes, many of them (got Covid-19) and I already instructed the Human Resource Management Office to send everyone to work from home for one incubation period and that is 14 days,” Mayor Sara said in a radio interview Monday.

She did not disclose when the 10 government employees tested positive but said they were from different offices located at the SP Building, which has been placed under lockdown from May 31 to June 6.

The bulk of the positive cases are from the offices on the ground floor where the Business Bureau, City Treasurer’s Office, City Assessor’s Office, and Civil Registrar’s Office are located.

“I told the department heads of offices affected by the lockdown to ensure that there is continuity of their work,” Mayor Sara said.

She said Covid-19 transmission and infection in offices cannot be avoided so long as there is movement of people or employees in workplaces.

Offices that are affected by the SP Building lockdown are the City Treasurer’s Office, City Assessor’s Office, Business Bureau, City Civil Registrar’s Office, Vice Mayor’s Office, and the offices of all city councilors.

The city government also advised the public to put documents that need attention in drop boxes that would be made available in front of the SP Building while the lockdown is in effect.

It also advised the public to proceed to the District Offices for payments of taxes and other transactions with the Treasurer’s Office, Assessor’s Office, and Civil Registrar’s Office. ( Prexx Marnie Kate Trozo)
