ILIGAN CITY – Lanao del Norte Governor Imelda Dimaporo told local chief executives and barangay officials to set aside politics and help those most affected by the Covid-19 health crisis.
“Let start first by taking care of our people, set aside politics una. Unahon nato ang maayong pagkahimutang (sa atong mga constituents). We cannot give all of them a good life, we cannot feed them all but at least unta atong maatiman ang atong mga kaigsoonan,” she said during a joint Provincial Peace and Order Council and Provincial Anti-Drugs Abuse Council (PPOC-PADAC) meeting on June 30.
She said local government leaders must to continue fulfilling their responsibilities to uplift the lives of their constituents. “Kami diri sa Provincial Government, wala man maundang ang mga programa nato nga ayuda sa agriculture, kanunay gihapon naa sa field ang atong mga offices, labaw na sa paghatag og livelihood sa atong mga kaigsoonan nianing pandemya nga dili kita kabalo kung kanus-a ba kini mahuman,” she said.
Dimaporo also challenged barangay chairmen throughout the province to educate and explain to their constituents the importance of getting inoculated against Covid-19, emphasizing that although the vaccine is not the cure, it prevents people from becoming so severely ill. (Apipa Bagumbaran)
