BOC clears over 7M AstraZeneca jabs since March

OVER SEVEN  million AstraZeneca vaccines have arrived in the country since March, the Bureau of Customs-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) reported on Tuesday.

In a statement, the bureau said there are currently 7,273,940 doses of vaccines from the United Kingdom that have been cleared since the first batch of the vaccines arrived five months ago.

The seventh batch of AstraZeneca in the country consisting of 415,040 doses donated by the UK government arrived on Monday afternoon via Emirates Airlines Flight EK332 at the NAIA Terminal 3 - Bay 114.

Upon arrival, the vaccines were immediately taken to the Pharmaserv Cold Storage Facility.

The vaccine, developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford, is the second Covid-19 vaccine that has been issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in January.

It was also the second Covid-19 vaccine imported into the country comprising of 487,000 doses last March 4. ( Ferdinand Patinio)
