THE DEPARTMENT of the Interior and Local Government has warned individuals who refused to get tested despite being exposed to Covid-19 and said they could be punished by law if they do not cooperate with authorities.
Interior Secretary
Eduardo Año said they have been receiving reports that many people refuse
Covid-19 screening for fear of temporarily disrupting their work and thus lose
their source of income.
Año said those
who were exposed or had close contact with infected individuals may also get
the virus and endanger their families and co-workers.
said.
He said the aim
of the government’s granular lockdown is to find people who may have the virus
and isolate them. “Let me remind the public that refusal to cooperate with the
authorities is punishable under RA 11332. Violators could face a P50,000 fine
and six-month jail time.”
“Kaya kailangan
contact or exposed, kailangan po tayong magpa-test.
Año said.
RA 11332 is the Law on Reporting of Communicable Diseases. The Act which provides policies and prescribing procedures on surveillance and response to notifiable diseases, epidemics, and health events of public health concern. (Mindanao Examiner)
