MAYOR BENG Climaco has urged business establishments and residents to patronize the handcrafted and colorful lanterns made at the Zamboanga City Reformatory Center.
“Let us support our PDLs who painstakingly crafted beautiful and colorful parols and share the spirit of the yuletide season despite the health crisis we are in now. Let us display these beautiful parols in homes, establishments and celebrate God’s graces and blessings in this season of hope,” she told the Zamboanga Post in an interview.
PDL refers to persons deprived of liberty or inmates.
Lighted lanterns with intricate designs sell between P700-P900. A separate news release from the local government said those who wanted to buy or order customized lanterns may call this mobile number 0927-1724922.
It has been a tradition by PDLs to sell handmade lanterns, among other yuletide decorations, ahead of the Christmas season. (Zamboanga Post)
