OVER 600 poor families from Barangay Cabatangan and Santa Barbara received cash and food assistance from Mayor Beng Climaco as part of the local government’s Sustainable Livelihood Program in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Each family received P10,000 from the DSWD and five kilos of rice from the local government, according to Climaco, who led social workers in the aid distribution.

Climaco said the DSWD community-based capacity building program seeks to improve and alleviate the plight of the poor, vulnerable and the marginalized sectors of the society.
Those who received the aid thanked the mayor and the DSWD. Climaco is now on her final term as mayor and is running for a congressional seat in next year’s elections. (Zamboanga Post)
