CEBU – The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) has approved a P31 a day wage hike for all private sector workers in Central Visayas.
This
was also confirmed by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), saying with
the RTWPB’s decision, the region’s current minimum wage is now between P387 and
P435 for non-agriculture employees; and between P382 to P425 for workers in the
agriculture sector.
At
the same time, the DOLE said the RTWPB also granted a P500 increase in monthly
pay for domestic helpers or household helpers in Central Visayas. This
increased their minimum salary to P5,500 and P4,500 for chartered cities and
first-class municipalities, and other municipalities, respectively.
The
new wage order will be submitted to the National Wage and Productivity
Commission for review and shall take effect 15 days after publication in a
newspaper of general circulation such as The Mindanao Examiner Regional Newspaper.
Central Visayas is composed of the provinces of Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor, and highly urbanized Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, and Mandaue City. (Ferdinand Patinio, Cebu Examiner)
