Olympian and BDO Ambassadress Hidilyn Diaz leads the Friday turn over of hygiene and school kits to over 3,300 students at the Mampang Elementary School in Zamboanga City. |
BDO ambassadress Hidilyn and
representatives of the BDO Unibank handed over the donations to education
officials which will benefit over 3,300 kindergarten and elementary students from Grades 1 to 6.
With project lead BDO Remit
in partnership with Western Union, the donation is part of the BDO’s vision to
help equip the youth for them to be able to succeed in today’s economy.
Hidilyn, a native of Zamboanaga, finished her elementary education in Mampang Elementary School.
“It is so good t0 be back
here again and see the excitement on the faces of these students and all this
was made possible through BDO Unibank and BDO Foundation. We want to thank BDO
Unibank and BDO Foundation for all these kits,” she said. “Thank you BDO, you
always find ways.”
BDO Foundation’s advocacies are disaster response, which include rehabilitation and rebuilding; and financial inclusion. It was established as the corporate social responsibility arm and channel for outreach and socio-economic development programs of BDO Unibank’s internal and external publics.
It aims to respond to the needs of the marginalized sector of society, especially those affected by disasters, for decent shelter and educational facilities, health care and sustainable livelihood. BDO Foundation aims to be a leading, dynamic and responsive organization that creates opportunities and supports initiatives to improve the country’s socio-economic development.
Earlier in the day, Hidilyn also opened a BDO CASH AGAD outlet in her village in Mampang and was witnessed by huge crowd. The BDO CASH AGAD outlet allows an ATM holder to withdraw money or inquire about their current balance.
They do not need to go to downtown Zamboanga just to withdraw money and thus save them time and transportation fares. Villagers were ecstatic to try the BDO CASH AGAD outlet and others said they would open a savings account with BDO. (Mindanao Examiner)
