COTABATO CITY - Motorcycle gunmen shot dead the chief of the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples Affairs of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao in a dating attack in the southern city of Cotabato.
Police said the 52-year old Jocelyn Palao was in a van and heading home when she was attacked late Tuesday afternoon, December 20, by the gunmen, who tailed her vehicle from work.
The assailants escaped after the shooting which occurred in downtown Cotabato. Two other passengers in the van were unscathed from the shooting, according to the police.
The motive of the killing is still unknown and no individual or group claimed responsibility for the shooting, but gun attacks in Cotabato are not uncommon due to the presence of hired killers and poor security in the city. (Mindanao Examiner)
