Parliament to educate Bangsamoro on electoral code

COTABATO CITY - The Bangsamoro Parliament is steadfast in its campaign to educate its constituents on the Bangsamoro Electoral Code, said Floor Leader and Rules Committee Chairman Atty. Sha Elijah Dumama-Alba.

“We want everyone to be involved and understand the law so that we can exercise our right to vote for the leaders we want to represent us,” Chairman Dumama-Alba said.

Deputy Speaker Atty. Nabil Tan emphasized that the Bangsamoro Electoral Code reflects the sentiments of the Bangsamoro people.

The Bangsamoro Parliament unanimously approved on March 8 the Bangsamoro Electoral Code that will prescribe the structural, functional, and procedural principles of the elections, referenda, and recall proceedings in the BARMM.

Regional political parties are required to engage in activities that educate voters in their communities, schools, and institutions about the electoral code and other election laws, rules, and guidelines, either on their own or in collaboration with Commission on Elections, other political parties, organizations, institutions, civil society, or individuals.

The Bangsamoro Electoral Code is one of the priority codes that the Parliament should enact during the transition period. (LTAIS-Public Information, Publication, and Media Relations Division)
