COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro Parliament’s Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs Committee has approved a resolution declaring the whole of October as Indigenous People’s Month in BARMM.
The
resolution also declares October 29 of every year as Regional Indigenous
People’s Thanksgiving Day in the region.
Various
BARMM ministries and agencies have also engaged in discussion during CIPA's
hearing, presenting their early recovery plans and initiatives for the victims
of severe tropical storm Paeng, especially for the Non-Moro Indigenous Peoples
in the region.
The
hearing involved key figures from the ministries of Health, Indigenous Peoples’
Affairs, Human Settlements and Development, Agriculture, Fisheries, and
Agrarian Reform, Environment, Natural Resources and Energy, Social Services and
Development, Finance, Budget, and Management, and the Bangsamoro Planning Development
Authority.
A
resolution urging the Bangsamoro Government to undertake immediate concerted
actions to address the impact of Typhoon Paeng prompted the committee hearing.
