PAGADIAN CITY – Teachers in this southern Philippine city have lauded Mayor Sammy Co for acknowledging and praising their hard work during the recent celebration of the “World Teachers’ Day.”
Co led local government officials in celebrating the occasion held at the covered court of Plaza Luz where hundreds of teachers, mostly from public schools, attended.
The mayor personally thanked the teachers for their role in shaping the youth to become law-abiding citizens. During the celebration, Co provided rice to the teachers and held a raffle draw that gave away small appliances to the delight of the educators.
Also present during the occasion were Vice Mayor Atty. Baleleng Fernandez, City Councilors Sam Tyra Co and Dr. Dicky Fernandez.
World Teachers’ Day is held annually on
October 5 to celebrate all teachers around the globe. It aims to raise
awareness of the importance of the role played by teachers all over the world.
They dedicate their lives, often for a very low salary, to making an impact on
the way children learn and grow and turn into responsible adults. (Mindanao
