DAVAO CITY - Motorcycle gunmen shot dead a former town of mayor of Davao Oriental and wounded his driver in a daring broad daylight attack in the southern Filipino city of Davao.
The 67-year old Giselo Castillones, who served as mayor of Cateel, was shot repeatedly inside his car, including his driver Junie Castro, in the village of Buhangin. A third passenger seating at the back of the car survived the shooting, according to the police.
The trio had lunch at a restaurant and returned to the car when the gunmen attacked them and escaped after the shooting. Police were investigating the he motive of the killing.
No individual or group claimed responsibility for the murder. (Mindanao Examiner)
