4 fishermen rescued from capsized boat

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued four fishermen after their motorized boat capsized off the southern port city of Zamboanga.

 

Photos released by the Philippine Coast Guard show four fishermen who were rescued off Zamboanga City after their boat capsized near Tumalutab Island. 

The PCG said the fishermen were in good physical condition and now reunited with their families after being rescued on Thursday near Tumalutab Island. It said the four men were clinging on the wooden boat when spotted by the PCG and other fishermen who helped in the search and rescue mission.

“Upon receiving the information Coast Guard Station Sangali personnel onboard AB263 together with the motorized boats Jastin and Haima proceeded to the area and immediately conducted a search and rescue operation and successfully rescued the four individuals all in good physical condition. The said capsized motorized banca was successfully towed to Sangali port,” the PCG said.

 

It said the boat capsized after it was battered by huge waves and strong winds. “The fishermen revealed that they went on a fishing venture at Tumalatab fishing grounds and suddenly encountered huge waves and strong winds with zero visibility causing their motorized banca to capsize,” PCG said.
