This annual immersion initiative is a vital component of the schools' dedication to supporting the Department of Education in enhancing the career and academic development of their students.
The immersionists were welcomed by the community during the flag rites ceremony, followed by an orientation session conducted by the Office of International Affairs and Linkages. The orientation provided valuable insights and guidance from experts in various departments, with the assistance of representatives from the offices of the Student Affairs, College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, and Research.
A comprehensive campus tour was also organized for the students. Subsequently, the students were assigned to offices, laboratories, and stations to begin their immersive experience.
To note, the students were accompanied by their coordinators Mr. Raul Panada (Anilao) and Mr. Romeo Garcia (San Joaquin).
In the orientation proper, Prof. Grace Bunda, the Director of OSAS, emphasized the importance of taking the immersion process seriously to acquire essential skills, experience, and information for making informed career choices.
On behalf of the OIAL, orientation facilitator Julius Ruger Hermano expressed, "We welcome the students and their teacher coordinators with open arms, hoping they will maximize their learning opportunities at ISUFST."
Research Director Dr. Jescel Bito-onon, for her part, also gave career tips to the students with stress on the value of considering research, fisheries technology, or marine biology as viable career options noting that ISUFST s considered a Center of Development in this regard.
It is worth noting that the work immersion program at ISUFST Tiwi offers students a valuable opportunity to gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience in their respective fields, equipping them for future career pursuits. The school looks forward to a rewarding and enriching experience for all participants throughout the immersion period. (Herman Lagon)
