Basilan projects lauded

BASILAN - Deputy Speaker Atty. Laisa Alamia led the turnover of a child-friendly facility and the installation of solar-powered street lights in Basilan province with provincial and city government leaders praising the projects.

The facility, known as "Bahay Pag-asa," is a 24-hour child-care institution designed to cater to the needs of “children who are in conflict with the law” or who need social services.

Situated in Lamitan City, the facility comprises two separate buildings designed to accommodate both male and female residents, with a total capacity of up to 52 people with essential amenities such as kitchens, dining halls, prayer rooms, and storage areas.

Additionally, around 190 units of solar-powered street lights were installed in various locations in Basilan, providing residents with safer and more interactive spaces in the community.

The projects, in partnership with the BARMM’s Public Works Ministry, were funded under the Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF) of Alamia. (LTAIS-Public Information, Publication, and Media Relations Division)
