Public consultations on proposed Bangsamoro Revenue Code all set

COTABATO CITY - The Committee on Ways and Means has approved its calendar of activities for BTA Bill No. 286, or the proposed Bangsamoro Revenue Code (BRC).

The committee's schedule outlines a series of focus group discussions, public consultations, and learning sessions from May to August. These activities will take place both within the BARMM and outside the region, aiming to gather insights, opinions, and recommendations from various experts and stakeholders.

Following these consultations, the committee plans to start deliberations on the proposed code in the third and fourth weeks of August.

Atty. Paisalin Tago, CWM chair, expressed the committee’s commitment to expediting the approval process, aiming for the endorsement of the proposed code by the third quarter of the year.

The committee also discussed the BTA’s Policy Research and Legal Services policy brief, which highlights regions with notable fiscal autonomy and effective taxation systems that can be used as benchmarks by Members of the Parliament. It provides insights and best practices that can be adapted to the specific needs and context of the Bangsamoro region. (LTAIS-Public Information, Publication, and Media Relations Division)
