ZAMBOANGA CITY - A provincial bus slammed into a trailer truck at dawn Saturday, killing its driver and injuring over a dozen passengers in Davao del Norte's Carmen town in the southern Philippines.
The truck was parked on the shoulder of the road in the village of Tuganay due to mechanical problem when the speeding bus, owned by Bachelor's Tours, crashed into the trailer, pinning the driver - Jonathan Mula - to his death.
At least 20 passengers suffered slight injuries from the deadly crash which occured shortly before 4 a.m. The truck had its early warning device or reflectors on the road at the time of the accident, but it was unclear why Mula crashed the bus or whether he fell asleep while driving.
The bus company has not released any statement into the accident. (Mindanao Examiner)
