COTABATO CITY - The Committee on Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs will hold a series of public consultations in the BARMM’s mainland and island provinces this month to gather legislative input and recommendations for BTA Bill No. 273 or the proposed Bangsamoro Indigenous Peoples Development Act (BIPDA) of 2024.
The committee aims to engage with communities
directly affected by the legislation. These consultations will provide a
platform for locals to voice their opinions and contribute to the shaping of
the indigenous people's bill.
In addition to grassroots consultations, the
committee plans to convene with experts and concerned stakeholders in Manila to
refine the legislative framework further.
BTA Bill No. 273 is one of two remaining priority
codes that Parliament must enact during the transition period, along with the
revenue code.
