BIR, BOC told to run after smugglers

NEOPHYTE SENATOR Raffy Tulfo has told the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) to run after big time smugglers and not on some small fry following complaints from a vlogger and an online seller who claimed that some agents from the agency visited their homes and knocked on their doors to inquire about their tax payments.

Pay taxes correctly, religiously: BIR

KIDAPAWAN CITY – The Bureau of Internal Revenue here urged business owners and tax payers to continue and correctly pay their obligations to the government as it intensify collections to help fund various infrastructure and health programs of President Duterte’s administration that largely benefit the Filipinos.

Revenue District Officer Eddie Castillo also praised and lauded businessmen and traders who religiously pay their taxes which resulted to a spike in revenue collections.

Duterte now wants restrictions on POGOs

AFTER TELLING China last year not to interfere in the Philippine offshore gaming operations, now President Duterte wants to impose restrictions on the games, citing high cases of corruption, extortion, and kidnappings linked to the Chinese operations of controversial online gaming.

China has previously appealed to Duterte to ban the offshore games, but the President rejected this because of the taxes the government collects from them. The Chinese foreign ministry called on the Philippines to ban all online gaming involving Chinese citizens, saying that “online gambling is a most dangerous tumor in modern society.”
