A MYANMAR national and 50 Chinese nationals were arrested in an anti-illegal gambling operation in Makati City, the Southern Police District (SPD) said on Tuesday.
In a report, the SPD said that operatives from the local police conducted the raid on the fifth floor of a building located at 7299 J. Victor St., in Barangay Pio del Pilar around 9:15 p.m. Monday.
The operation stemmed from complaints about an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) in the area under the company named Hua Xin.
Seized from the operation were laptop computers, gadgets, cellular phones with active SIM cards, personal computers, broadbands, WiFi routers, and multiple electronic one-time passcodes.
The suspects are now under police custody and will be facing violations of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to the city's Executive Order 11 (General Community Quarantine Guidelines), Presidential Decree 1602 (illegal gambling), and Republic Act 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).
