WITH THE rising number of new Covid-19 cases in Zamboanga City, Mayor Beng Climaco again reminded residents to observe health protocols and strictly follow the quarantine guidelines in order to prevent the spread of the deadly respiratory disease.
Climaco, who heads the Zamboanga’s task force on Covid-19, said there are now nearly 300 active Covid cases and at least 20 recorded deaths. But despite the increase in Covid cases, she said patients who recovered from the disease are now nearly 350.
“We remind our residents to continue their efforts to protect themselves and protect others by wearing masks and other protective equipment at all times, maintain physical distancing and avoid converging in single areas where close contact is inevitable and ventilation is poor, and to regularly wash your hands and limit the movement outside the house,” she said.
Climaco said residents should take precaution when in public areas. “We understand that we cannot totally put a halt to our movements outside our homes as we have needs to consider and tasks to attend to. Please be careful when you go out. Please take every precaution you can and avoid unnecessary risks. Si puede, no mas ya sale na casa y si necesita gayot sale, siempre con cuidao,” she said.
The local government, she added, is exhausting all efforts to fight the pandemic on different fronts.
“As you all know Covid-19 is a public health emergency. It is an economic emergency. It is a social emergency. We are doing our best to keep up and customizing our approach for the local situation while heeding national directives.”
“We ask for your patience and understanding with the developments that come in and are implemented. Follow pronouncements and reports from official sources only,” Climaco said. (Zamboanga Post)
